T Levels: The Next Level Qualification

T Levels: The Next Level Qualification

Posted on November 12, 2019 by Stanley Cage

Schools and colleges are soon to see a change in the curriculum in September 2020, alongside A Levels and Apprenticeships that we all know, a new course is being introduced; T Levels.

The T Levels have been created as a stepping stone for school leavers to better prepare them for the working world.  They will be a combination of both classroom studies and industry placements, meaning schools and colleges will have to adopt a new style of teaching by working alongside placement employers.

The course will be studied over 2 years and be equivalent to 3 A-Levels; the benefit of the course is obviously the ‘on the job’ element where students will be on placement for approximately 45 days, and will be working and learning in their chosen field of work. There are currently 25 industries and areas in which students will be able to study and more following in 2021. There have been a select group of 50 educational institutions spread across the UK chosen for the first wave of qualifications.

With such a high level of practical real-world experience being at the core of the T Level qualifications, this will be an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their skills, knowledge and work ethic to potential local employers. T Levels will also provide a perfect platform for students to move directly into a range of post-qualification opportunities, whether that be a higher apprenticeship, university or directly into employment.

Given how important T levels are going to become to the further education curriculum, it is essential as an educational institution you are marketing them correctly.
