The Rise of Mobile Marketing

The Rise of Mobile Marketing

Posted on July 24, 2018 by Gary O'Connor

Since 2014 mobile has overtaken desktop as the most popular device to browse the internet. Instead of stating what a smartphone can do I should ask the question what a smartphone can’t do. From scheduling our daily tasks, to making payments it’s no wonder people are so reliant on their smart devices

It’s crazy to think how far the mobile device has come in the past 10 years and how reliant we  are on our smartphones. For most smartphone users it’s the first thing we look at when we wake up in the morning and the last thing we look at before we go to bed!!

Companies have adapted to this shift in power and use more and more of their marketing budget on mobile campaigns. In fact, 68% of companies have now integrated mobile marketing into their overall marketing strategy. The main reason for this you ask??? Lets look at some of the stats:

  • 70% of mobile searches lead to online action within an hour
  • 4 out of 5 consumers use their smartphone to browse items
  • The average smartphone user checks their smartphone 150 times a day
  • 46% of smartphone owners use their mobile as a primary search tool to browse the internet
  • As of August 2018, there are over 4 billion unique mobile internet users

Mobile marketing campaigns can reach a broader market. Campaigns such as SMS average 96% open rates and 90% of the target audience tend to read the message within 3 seconds. This is far higher than email marketing campaigns or other digital channels.

Digital Marketing will continue grow and mobile will be an integral part of companies marketing strategy plans. It is estimated that by 2020 75% of marketing budget will be spent developing apps and adverts tailored to smartphone users.
