Educate & BBC: Student Recruitment in a Post Pandemic World

Educate & BBC: Student Recruitment in a Post Pandemic World

Posted on April 5, 2021 by Daniel Farrell

After a tumultuous 12 months, including Covid-19 and Brexit, UK universities are resetting for the post-pandemic world, facing both uncertainties and opportunities.

Together with the BBC we assembled an expert panel to address a number of key questions. These included:

  • What will be the long-term impact on student migration, especially from the EU?
  • How quickly will traditional in-person education bounce back?
  • Will the economic fallout lead to a rise in postgraduate applications?
  • How can Universities capitalise on the current expanding cohort of 18 year olds?

The BBC’s Education Editor Branwen Jeffreys delivered a short keynote presentation that sets up some of these themes and includes the latest data. This was followed by a panel discussion, chaired by Mary Curnock Cook, independent education expert and former CEO of UCAS and featuring Branwen, Andrew Hargreaves, Founder of DataHE and Erez van Ham, Director of Strategic Partnerships at ApplyBoard.
